AVG Free 8.0:
Installation and Updating AVG
8.0 is the latest edition of AVG Free.
This tutorial will show you how to
update an existing 7.5 installation of
AVG to 8.0. Uninstalling
older version of AVG: Before you
can install AVG 8.0, you must first
uninstall your current version of AVG.
This is necessary as 8.0 may not work
properly if you don't uninstall any
older versions first. To do so: 1. In
the start menu click on "Set Program
Access and Defaults".
(note: if you do not see this in your start menu you can
access it through the control panel with
"Add/Remove Programs".)
2. In the window that pops up click
on the "Change or Remove Programs"
button in the top left corner.
3. A list of all the programs unstalled
on your computer will appear. Select
your AVG installation from the list and
then click "Change/Remove".
The AVG uninstallation wizard will open.
After checking the status of of the
installed files AVG will ask if you're
sure you want to uninstall. Other
options such as removing any custom
settings or objects in the virus vault.
Select "yes" to continue.
After selecting "yes" AVG will uninstall
and you will be prompted to reboot your
computer.
